Euroopan deliriumkongressi Uumajassa 17.-18.11.2011

17 – 18 November 2011, Folkets Hus, Vasaplan, Umeå, Sweden
The European Delirium Association is holding its 6th Annual Scientific Congress in the exotic and beautiful winter city of Umeå, just 50 minutes by plane from Stockholm. The exciting programme covers the whole spectrum of delirium research and clinical practice. Some of the world’s leading delirium researchers are speaking, including Professor Edward Marcantonio of Harvard University on ‘Intervention Studies in Delirium’, and Professor Yoanna Skrobik of Montreal University on ‘Prevention and Treatment of Delirium in the ICU’.
Other eminent speakers will cover the latest developments in a wide range of clinical research and basic science, including: setting up a delirium ward, practical implementation of better delirium care, delirium education through e-learning, pain management in delirious patients, peri-operative care, neuroimaging, non-convulsive status epilepticus, animal models, hormones and neuroinflammation, and neuroprotection. These invited talks will be complemented by multiple oral presentations and posters from submitted abstracts, ensuring that the newest work is covered. The programme also features five interactive workshops, covering drug treatments, RCTs, observational studies, and nursing interventions.
The programme is available here:
The deadline for abstracts for oral presentations and posters is 15 September 2011. The congress also has an ‘open poster policy’ so all delegates are welcome to bring posters without having submitted a title or abstract before coming. This enables authors to present early study results, study protocols, descriptions of clinical services, case reports, and so on, for discussion. The open poster policy has proved extremely popular in our previous meetings and has stimulated several new international collaborations.
